It's June...again?

01/06/2013
Firstly, I can't believe it's June already. I say that every month but it's true, I'm sure any other volunteer would agree that time flies faster in a Project Trust world! Almost a whole year has past since my Selection Course. I guess fundraising has had me busy for almost ten months straight... there is now only 82 teensy weensy days until I leave! I'm getting more excited everyday, everything is becoming very real. Especially since I received a rucksack and mosquito net for my birthday...how exciting!?

So here's an idea of what's happening this month, it's going to be a busy one:

2nd: Post passport, birth certificate, signed photo's and visa application to Project Trust.

4th: Injection number 8, my third and final Hepatitis B.

5th: Medical Examination for Visa Application. Will lead to my chest x-ray too.

8th: Phone Project Trust and pay £35 Visa Cost. Car Boot Sale to raise spending money.

9th: Father's Day!

11th: Final injection for South Africa - Yellow Fever.

12th: Brother's 21st Birthday. Gran's 81st Birthday.

13th: I leave for Birmingham Trip and return on the 17th.

15th: Deadline for all visa documents.

So much to do, so little time.

MAY?!

07/05/2013
I really can't believe how fast time flies. The last time I heard "May the Fourth be with you" was a whole year ago, it feels like only weeks. This time last year I was booking onto my selection course! In no time I'll be on my training course and then I'll be sitting on a plane, South Africa bound, with nothing but a rucksack and an open mind.

I have a few obstacles before training, including a trip to Devon and a trip to Birmingham for Insurgence 5 - The Vampire Diaries Convention. My trip to Birmingham is almost like a test run for South Africa, I'll be flying alone and staying in a hotel alone for four nights...that calls for independence! Oh and my birthday! 27th May.

Just in case you're a fan, I get to meet these guys!

This morning I had my second Hep B injection. I haven't been looking forward to this one as the first one hurt...like hell! So far i'm fine so let's hope it stays that way. I am now only aware of one more injection, Hep B no.3 on June 4th. However, I'm sure Project Trust will tell me to get Yellow Fever once my placement details arrive.

My new passport arrived today, finally! I have the photocopies ready to send off to Project Trust. Also this week: I have a car boot sale on Saturday, 11am at Sainsburys in Saltcoats. This weekend also brings the Project Trust parents event! Me and my mum are off to Glasgow on Sunday (17th) so she can meet the PT gang. Unfortunately my dad can't come because it's my little sisters 5th Birthday Party!

""Members of our staff will be present at each venue and welcome the chance to meet parents and begin the process of building a relationship that will assist in ensuring the success of your son/daughter's year overseas with us."

I'm really excited about it so I'll let you know how it goes! It's held at Glasgow Youth Hostel.

My sponsored climb has been postponed once again. It will be on the 25th May. No complaints, especially since Goat Fell has been capped in snow for almost a month now. My Bingo and Bag Pack are speedily approaching, I have a giddy feeling that they will complete my fundraising.
